Chiefs were always buried

The bone has a slight gloss finish and appears to have had a coat of varnish or similar although this may have been original to prevent the bone from crumbling and could be easily removed with acetone

Medically prepared human disarticulated skull bones A nice example of theThese bones were part of a collection from a medical school museum. This is a collection of disarticulated skull bones comprising of the frontal, two parietals (both left) and a sphenoid. The parietals still have the medical school collection number on them. All the bones have a very pale white colour which would suggest that they were prepared in the second half of the last century.
