The length is approximately 40cm (102"), a good length to cover the shoulders and upper back. The top of this cloak is finished with a knitted taniko tape in colours of white, black and purple. The taniko design represents manaia and wairua. Te Manaia is a bird like figure that has supernatural powers and is a spiritual guardian. Te Manaia has the head of a bird, body
