What is still legal: Fishing from shore or within 1,000 yards using non-wire leaders and hooks 1.5 inches or smaller Targeting any legal shark species from shore using compliant gear Fishing from a boat beyond 1,000 yards from shore without these restrictions All other recreational fishing not involving wire leader or oversized hooks In practical terms, shore-based anglers can continue targeting leopard sharks, soupfin sharks, sevengill sharks, and other legal species — but without wire leader and without hooks larger than 1.5 inches in inside measurement
